He was born in Rollhofen, Bavaria, Germany in 1835 and died in Charlestown, WI in 1913. He was drafted and joined the 9th Wisconsin Infantry (Company C) on 1/27/1865. He was a farmer and lived in Charlestown Township (near Chilton) in Calumet County, WI. He served in Arkansas and was mustered out of the Army in Little Rock, Arkansas on 1/30/1866.
