Absalom W Caudle - Private
Absalom was Jessie Caudle brother. Family letters state that they enlisted together; therefore I am assuming that they were both in company 'D'. Letters also state his first battle was Shiloh as was Jessie's. Their brother Malakiah Caudle fell at Shiloh but not sure what company he was in. Absalom died May 12 1881 according to a family Bible and was last shown on a census in Decatur County Tn in 1850. If you have any info on the Caudle brothers confederate service, please contact me.

Jessie Benton Caudle - Private
Jessie was my Great Grandfather. Died in 1933 in Obion County Tn and is buried in Pleasant Hill Cementry in Obion County. I beleive his two brothers Malakiah and Absalom also were members of the 27th Company D. It his written in some family letters that he lost two brothers at Shiloh, their first battle. Malakiah fell at Shiloh. Unable to confirm if there was a third brother that was also enlisted that died at Shiloh. It is written in a family letter that he accounted for many of men at Shiloh and that he was one of only a dozen left standing. He stated in a 1915 'Civil War Questionnaires' that at Shiloh, 3/4 of his Regiment was lost.
