Subsequent battles included Seven Pines, Mechanicsville, Cold Harbor, Frazier's Farm, Harper's Ferry, and Sharpsburg. Was taken prisoner at Sharpsburg, but later released in an exchange. Was part of Pickett's Charge in Gettysburg. One of the 34 remaining in the regiment at war's end in Appomattox. washington e lowe - Captain |
Fairly certain this is my G-G-GF. I'm very interested in any information of W. E. Lowe. There is also another Lowe in the 14th Tenn, Co. E - Wm. K. Lowe. This may be his son, brother or nephew. Obviously, I'm pretty clueless. I do know from family stories that one of these men (perhaps both) participated in Pickett's charge (Heth's division). In any event, W.E. Lowe eventually moved to Atlanta and lived on Sinclair Road, passing away around 1920. He was a busy man in at least one regard - he had 8 children. Thanks.
