He was shot and killed on Old Federal Road in Monroe County, Tennessee during the Civil War. He was my Grand Uncle.

b. Aug 1829 Roane, TN d 16 Feb 1872 Columbus, Colorado, TX. Brigade/Regiment Quartermaster, appointed 29 May 1861 by Gen. John Crawford Vaughn (his brother). He was disabled at the time from a wound received in service during the Mexican War. He was married to Martha A. Robinson (sister of my great grandfather, Thomas Jefferson Robinson). They had children; Charles L, James Andrew, Earnest, Mabel, and Idella. Very little known about children.. some are found in Bozeman, MT. Was a lawyer before war and after.

General John Crawford was the brother of my great grandmother.

He was born 18 Jan 1831 in Limestone Co., Alabama and died 31 Aug 1882 in Columbia, Tenn. Buried in Elkton, Tennessee. He married Harriot Brow Hunter on 10 Mar 1868. He was wounded in battle at Raymond Mississippi.

3rd Lillard’s Tennessee Mounted Infantry, Company “B” (3rd Regt. East Tenn.) A first cousin with the same name, fought for the Union. Both are buried in the same Church cemetery. Confederate Veteran Pendelton Monroe Isbell applied for a Confederate Pension on October 15, 1901. He stated he was 'almost 73 years old', being born Nov.4, 1828, in Monroe County, Tennessee. He enlisted April 17, 1861 into Company B 3rd Tennessee Infantry, commanded by Colonel John Crawford Vaughn. 'I was wounded in the battle of Tazwell, Tennessee, shot through the right leg with a minnie ball, four inches above the knee, also shot in the head above the left eye, causing loss of the left eye, and partial use of the right leg. He was attended to by Regimental Surgeon, Dr. A.C. Blevins, and detailed to other duties until he was well enough to do normal duty. I never asked for a discharge'. He surrendered and was paroled home, at Wytheville, Virginia, May, 1865. He said he 'never took the Oath of Allegiance to the U.S. Government', and wouldn't 'under any circumstances'.

George Washington was my grandfather. He is buried in Lane Paraire Cemetery, Johnson County, Texas. He died 18 Nov 1918 in Johnson County, Texas. Married Rebecca Elizabeth Young the daughter of Alfred Vaughn and Mary Ann Vaughn.

Born 19 June 1837, Enlisted 20 September 1861 (Vaughn's 3rd), Captured at the Battle of Vicksburg 4 July 1863, paroled 10 July 1863. He was my great-grandfather on my mother's side.

Captain Albert G. Stephens, born in the east of Tennesse on March 25 1840, married with Mary Jane Stephens from Praire Grove Tennessee, joint to CSA on 1961 like second lieutenant and ended like Captain Company B 3rd Regiment Tennessee Mounted Infantry Lillard's from Monroe Co. Tennessee. Captain Stephens raised 4 children: William Albert, born in Missouri, Hugh Louis, born in Arkansas, Henry, bonr in Oregon and Caroline married with Reagan Moore in Oklahoma. After April 12 1865, he moves to Arkansas, Oregon, missouri, Oklahoma and in 1888, he moves with his family to Acapulco, Mexico. Captain Stephens owns a Mexican hacienda in Acapulco Mexico with 6,664 Hectareas named: EL PROTRERO and Hacienda CACALUTLA . Captain Albert G. Stephens and his wife, Mary Jane Stephens ship from The United States to Acapulco Mexico 3 full Victorian style houses wuth 2 levels each house. One of this houses was called 'LA CASA DEL CONSULADO' (the consulate house) because this house was the U.S. American Consulate in Acapulco, Mexico located in the actual Hidalgo Ave. in Downtown. Actually is the sede of the Telephone Company TELMEX. On 1914 with the revolucionary war in Mexico, after suffered the thief of 18,000 heads of Hereford, Captain Stephens return to the United States and Died on Muskogee Oklahoma at 75 years old on Friday october 22, 1915. Hugh L. Stephens married with Elodia Estada who was descendant of a Mexican Insurgency Hero Hermeregildo 'TATA NACHO' Galeana and Henry Stephens married Juana Galeana.

Served in the Civil War, a color bearer in Company B, 59th Tennessee, Wilsons Regement, Vaughn''s Brigade, Cheatham''s Division. He was also in Company K, 3rd Tennessee Mtd Infantry, CSA. Pension application number 33474 as a veteran of the Civil War. He was captured at Baker''s Creek (Champion''s Hill) in 1863, just outside of Edwards, Hinds County, Mississippi. This was just before the siege of Vicksburg by General US Grant. He was the son of Joseph Alexander Young and Mary Ann Vaughn

Enlisted from Maury County, Tennessee. Wounded September 18, 1863 during battle of Chickamauga. Returned home (near Columbia, Tennessee) to recuperate from his wound and was taken prisoner there. After the war, he and his family moved to Spring Hill, Texas, where he owned the general store and served as Postmaster.

Enlisted at age 17 went to Kentucky under Gen. Buckner was surrendered at Fort Donelson and sent to Camp Douglas. Was there 3 months,bribed a guard and escaped. Returned to Tennessee and joined Co G 9th Tennessee Cavalry and was captured Nov. 9, 1863, sent to Camp Morton where he and 10 others dug a tunnel and escaped on Jan. 10,1865.

Hezekiah is my ggGrandfather. He served in Lillard's Mounted Infantry, Co E, 3rd Regiment from 1861-1864. He became a POW on Feb. 19, 1864 in Blount County, TN.

Samuel identified as Assistant Surgeon of E Company. He had just completed one year of medical school at the Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1860.

enlisted in the Confederate Army May 18, 1861. He was a 2nd Corporal assigned to Company H, 3rd Regiment, Tennessee Volunteers. His name appeared on the Roll of Prisoners of War at Camp Douglas, Illinois, on August 1, 1862. He was captured at Fort Doleson February 16, 1862. He was among 184 prisoners of war who were exchanged on board the steamer John H. Done, near Vicksburg, Mississippi, on September 23, 1862. Discharge date uknown. Willis' father, Henry Collins, also fought for the Confederacy under the 11th Tennessee Cavalry.

John Thomas Weeks CSA, 3rd Reg., Tennessee Vols. Lillard's Mtd. Infantry, Co.G Enlisted Calhoun, McMinn County, Tenn. Feb. 28, 1862, by Capt. Giddens. My great-grandfather, died about July 20th, 1863, a few days after the fall of Vicksburg. He signed the Oath of Allegiance to the United States and died shortly after, either from wounds received or illness. He was survived by his wife, Mary C. Shamblin Weeks, and four children. Elizabeth Weeks Yeargain, Sarah C. Weeks Willis, Mary Jane Weeks Duffield, and Joel Weeks(Never married)

Gideon Morgan BOWMAN (abt 1842-24 Jul 1924), PVT, Co H, 3rd TN Inf, CSA, enlisted 10 Feb 1862 at Flat Lake, KY & was discharged 23 Feb 1865 at Nashville, TN He was born in TN. Residence records found for TN, AR, OK, and CA. He died at the Sawtelle Disabled Soldiers Home [now West Los Angeles]. He was survived by his widow Mary Emaline GILES (same city). They m 15 May 1864 in Roane Co, TN. Pension Certificate 809.335. Pension amt $50. Buried in Sec 40-M.5 in the Sawtelle Cemetery, now the Los Angeles National Cemetery [West LA]. [Research of D Giles Loiselle, great-grand niece of Mary Giles Bowman]

H of the 3rd Tennesse Volunteer Infantry (Clack''s) about May 16, 1861. Captured at Ft. Donelson. Discharged from service on October 8, 1862 due to complications from Thypoid Fever. Tennessee pensioner. After war settled in Obion Co. TN. Was peddler, fisherman, etc. near Reelfoot Lake until his death in 1921. Buried (unmarked grave) at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, near Hornbeak in Obion County, TN.

As POW at Rock Island enlisted in Co. E, 2nd US Vol. Inf. for ''frontier service'' in October 1864. Fought Indians in Kansas until Nov. 1865. Received US pension and died in Obion Co. TN in 1928. Buried at Mt. Ararat Cememtery near Troy, TN. His father Levi Carroll Grimes of the 48th TN Inf CSA died in Confederate service.

Enlisted April 26, 1861 in Sweetwater, Tn by Captain J.C. Boyd for a period of 12 months. He re-enlisted in December 1861. He was elected 1st Lieutenant May 14, 1862.

Joined in Lewisburg, Tennessee in May 1861. Captured at Fort Donelson, survived Camp Douglas. After parole, continued with the 3rd Tennessee for the rest of the war, wounded in the hand at Chickamauga. Surrendered with Gen. Joseph E.Johnston April 26, 1865. Moved to Texas, farmed in Grayson and Wise Counties, moved to Oklahoma in 1898, died in 1922 at Carter, Beckham Co., Oklahoma. At some point, the spelling of his last name was changed to Poarch. He was my great-grandfather.

John's mother was Lydia Jane Cox, sister to my maternal gr,gr,gr, grandfather, John Cox Jr. of Sullivan County, East Tennessee. Along with his brother James, he probably fought on both sides in the Civil War !!! His CONFEDERATE service was in : 3RD (BROWN`S) TENNESSEE VOLUNTEER INFANTRY REGIMENT Records filed as 3rd (Clack`s) Tennessee Infantry Regiment. Organized May 16, 1861 at Lynnville, Giles County; mustered into Confederate service at Camp Trousdale, August 7, 1861; reorganized September 26, 1862; merged into 4th Consolidated Tennessee Infantry Regiment April 9, 1865; paroled at Greensboro, North Carolina, May 1, 1865 John P. Hale (First_Last) Regiment Name 3 (Clack`s) Tennessee Infantry. Side Confederate Company I Soldier`s Rank_In Private Soldier`s Rank_Out Sergeant.

S.L. Yokley was killed while on post at Raimond, MS on 12 May 1863.

Larkin about 1826 near Lynnville, Giles County, Tenn. [*Note The 3rd was organized at Lynnville, Giles County 16 May 1861 after its capture at Fort Donalson it re-organized at Jackson Miss. on 26 Sept 1862. He was initially in Co A but after re-organization he is in co K.] Battles: Fort Donalson, Vicksburg Campaign, Raymond, Miss. Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge, Atlanta Campaign. The 3rd regiment had 2565 men on its roll. He has 13 items in his archival file. He died 4 July 1909 in Pulaski, Giles County, Tenn. He is buried in the Dunnavant Cem in that town. He is in my family tree on the end of a remote marriage.

My relative was part of the 3rd Tennessee Provisional Army, led by Col Vaughn. They fought at the first Manassas and later when led by Col. Lillard at Vicksburg. The unit eventually became the 3rd TN. Mounted Infantry. James died of smallpox at Vicksburg. He was born in Jefferson County, TN., the son of Henry and Amy Gann. He lived in Monroe County, TN. when he enlisted. I'm intested in speaking to anyone with pics of troops from the 3rd TN. I'm trying to determine what type of uniform my ancestor would have worn. My grandfather Manchester Weatherford lived in Lawrence co. Tennessee at the start of the Civil war.He was captured at Champain Hill.I do not have anymore information. In the 1890's He and his family moved to Bell co.,Texas. He died in Bell co. in 1923.
