William Kleck - Private

William Kleck(my 3rd great-grand uncle) was born 7 November 1840 in Germany to William Kleck(1810-1870)and Catherine Heinrick. The family emigrated to the U.S. in 1852 and settled in Clarion County, Pennsylvania. William enlisted as a private on 22 February 1862 at the age of 21. He was captured at Plymouth, North Carolina on 20 April 1864 and sent to the notorious Andersonville POW camp in Andersonville, Georgia. He was mustered out on 25 Jun 1865 in New Berne, North Carolina. William died 25 December 1911 in Clarion County, Pennsylvania.

Mustered Out Company H, 103rd Infantry Regiment Pennsylvania on 25 Jun 1865 at New Berne, NC. Died 12 Aug 1865 (Typhoid Fever?). He is buried in Bald Eagle, Pennsylvania. His name appears on a Civil War monument in Blair County, PA.
