Frantz, born 1824 in Wurttemberg, Germany. Died 08 May 1872 of TB contracted in Civil War. Also spelled Baier, Beare, Bear. Substitute for James Parker, originally was in 113th Volunteers, 12 Regt PA Cavalry. Transferred to 11th Infantry 11 August, 1865. Served in Petersbug campaign, including Battle of Hatcher's Run. Here he was carried from the skirmish line too sick to continue.
Last note from pension records filed by his widow to secure his pension.

3rd great-grandfather, born 1834 in Pennsylvania and died 1914 in Pennsylvania.

I have a picture of his gave stone. He is in Armagh Presbyterian Cemetery

Enlisted as a Private on 27 November 1861.
Wounded on 1 July 1863 at Gettysburg, PA.
Wounded at the Wilderness, VA on 5 May 1864.
Mustered out on 1 July 1865 at Harrisburg, PA.
