Simon Penrod - Corporal |
Simon Penrod joined Company M in Dec 1863, one month after his 18th birthday. His father, Solomon, was a vetinary surgeon in the same regiment. Simon was promoted to corporal at age 19. After the war he became a miner, moving to Colorado after 1870.

Solomon Penrod - Other |
Solomon Penrod joined M Company in October 1861 as a Saddler Sergeant. He was later made Vetinary Surgeon. A blacksmith by trade, his skill with horses was clearly valuable. His regiment was at Gettysburg, Five Forks and the surrender at Appomattox Court House. Solomon claimed a pension in 1877 and died 1884.

Arthur O'Malley - Private |
Arthur O'Malley (my Great-Great Grandfather) enlisted in the Second Pennsylvania Calvary in Scranton, PA on 8/21/1863 at the age of 42. He served in the Second Pennsylvania with his son John O'Malley (my Great Grandfather). At War's end John was a Sergeant hospitalized in Alexandria, VA. Arthur and the remaining Second Pennsylvania were merged into the First Pennsylvania Provisional Calvary on 6/1/1865. Arthur was discharged from service by General Order on 6/24/1865.

Chester Sherrod - Private |
Younger brother of Alfred Sherrod of the 83rd PVI Co D. As the war was winding down in 1865, Chester Sherrod enlisted in Spring township, Crawford County in the 2nd Rgt 59th Vols and transferred to the 1st Provisional Calvary, Company F on June 1st.

John Cramer transferred from the 1st Pennsylvania Cavalry on 17 December 1863. He was wounded 0n 14 May 1864 near the meadow bridge crossing the Chickahominy. Spent May - October 1864 in Hammond USA Hospital at Point Lookout MD. Returned to duty November 1864 and was discharged on 13 July 1865. Died 7 March 1886.

Samuel Steck was my great, Great grandfater. He was mustered in in oct 1 1861. His name is under sergeants on the 2nd cavalry 59TH regiment monument at gettysbugh. Mustered out with the 1st provisional cavalry in july 1865.

Theodore Steck Was my Great Great uncle, he mustered in the 2nd PA Cavalry July 1st 1863. The first day of Gettysburg Battle, I belive the arrived at Gettysburg on july 2nd as Provost Guard to General Meade. His brother, my Great Great Grandfather Samuel L C Steck was also in the same company. They mustered out in july of 65.
