Henry sustained a gunshot wound to the right chest at the Battle of Overholtz Creek on 4 Dec 1864. He had begun to recover but died on 11/12 Feb 1865. He is interred in Stones River National Cemetery, plot 5275.

I found in some old records a discharge certificate for my grandfather, Daniel Montgomery Eddy where he mustered in on Sept 13, 1884 for one year and mustered out June 28, 1885, the name on the discharge was Daniel Eddy without the middle name. It says the certificate was issued Jan 4, 1918 as per provisions of the act of congress approved July 1902
