My great grandfather,William Harrison Frey, walked from New Matamoras, Ohio to Marietta, Ohio to enlist. He was with Co. H, 92nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry.
William Harrison Frey, born May 17, 1841 in Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia; died January 10, 1920 in Moundsville, Marshall County, West Virginia.
Here is a history of that unit:

Regiment lost during service 4 Officers and 47 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 1 Officer and 192 Enlisted men by disease. Total 244.

William Taylor

William 'Billy' was my great-great grandfather. He was born in Licking Co., Ohio on the 24th of October, 1831. His obituary:

Newcomerstown, OH, 8 January, 1916:

“William Taylor Passes Away...Mr. William Taylor, aged 83 years, a former resident of Marietta died on Saturday at his home in Newcomerstown. The remains were brought to Elba, Monday morning. Mr. Taylor had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company having worked on the Marietta division for about 35 years, until he was retired on a pension a few years ago. The deceased was one of the trusted men of the late General A.J. Warner and was counted as one of his best friends. He was employed in the Marietta yards of the railroad company for many years and his last work in this city was a flag man at the Front Street crossing. He was a veteran of the Civil war having been a member of the 92nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Company H, and saw service in many engagements.”

George P.Jarvis enlisted on 2 August 1862 @ 18 years of age. Enlisted in Co.I on 9 September 1862. He was wounded on 25 Feb. 1864 in battle @ Rocky Face Ridge, Georgia. He was mustered out on June 10 1865 in Camp Chase, Ohio. Fought on Union side. He was on a hill plowing when he heard about the war,tied the oxen to the fence and walked to Beebe,Ohio, where he caught a train. His mother didn't know what happened to him until someone came by later and told her. He enlisted for 3 years.he was my great-great grandfather.He was born 14 Jan. 1845, Washington,Ohio,died 31 March 1908. Buried in Cutler,Washington,Ohio .Married to Amanda Conant.
