Jacob Mummey
- Private
Jacob served in the 88th Ohio Volunteer Infantry in the Civil War, enlisting 1 Oct 1862 at the same time as his brother Isaac. He was mustered out with the company on 3 Jul 1865, but had spent a significant amount of time in the hospital and sick in quarters, suffering from chronic bronchitis and rheumatism. He would continue to suffer from these aliments for the rest of his life, to the extent of having to go on public support in 1883. He had moved to Marshall County, Indiana by 1869, and on to Gratiot County, Michigan around 1870, evidently right after getting married.
