Irenius Geren is my GG Grandfather and served with the 1st Ohio Light Artilery, Company H along wth his brother Dudley Dodge Geren. Listed below are some of the battles that they participated in. Battles: Wincheter, Virginia-March 22, 1862, Fort Republic, Virginia-June 9, 1862, Fredericksburg, Virginia-December 10-17, 1862, Chancelorsville, Virginia-May 1-4, 1863, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania-July 1-3, 1863, Cold Harbor, Virginia-June 1-12, 1864, Petersburg, Virginia-June 15-20, 1864 and they were involved in a number of skirmishes. Irenius was wounded while making coffe, a ball went through the flesh of his right thigh, lodgin in his left. He was laid up 6 months two at home because of over crowding in the hospital. Irenius was wonded in the battle before Petersburg June 18, 1864. He was shot by a snipper.
