Thomas Ruffin Gentry - Private
|
Pvt Thomas Ruffin Gentry served with the 35th NC Infantry from its formation at Camp Mangum, having enlisted in Company E from Person County. He met his end during the Battle of Plymouth. According to his commander 'He was shot through the body with grapeshot while assaulting the breastworks on the second day of battle.' My grandmother always said he was buried at Kitty Hawk but I think his grave must be somewhere near Kittrel as that is closer to Plymouth. Anyone one with information please email me.
