John was born in Cleveland, Rowan Co. NC 21 Jan 1843. He enlists at about age 19 in Capt A.K Simonton's Co 52nd NC Vols. on 25 April 1861 at Statesville, Iredell Co. NC . This unit became Co A 4th Regiment NC Infantry. It is 326 miles to rendezvous. He was mustered into his unit 5 June 1861 at Fort Caswell, Va. He has 23 cards in his archival file.
He is captured twice and wounded by mini ball in left thigh. Captured 3 May 1863 at Fredricksburg Va. and sent to City Point where he was one of 895 prisoners exchanged. He is in the hospital at Wounded 19 May 1864 at Strasburg Va. gunshot to left thigh. He is given a 60 day wounded furlough. At this point the dates become a bit muddled as to how he got exchanged. His Regiment was assigned to Generals, Featherstone, G.B. Anderson, Ramseur's & Cox's. We are related by marriage. He died 8 Jan 1925 and is buried at Triplett UMC Cem. Mooresville, IredellCo. NC

Sgt. Morrison mustered with the 4th NC, (Statesville-Iredell Blues) at the beginning of the war. Served until the end throughout northern Virgina. The 4th NC was active at many of the major campains in the area including Williamsburg, Seven Pines (Fair Oaks), Mechanicsville, Cold Harbor, South Mountain, Sharpsburg (Antietam) where the 4th held the bloody lane, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Brandy Station Gettysburg, Spottsylvania Courthouse, Snicker’s Gap, Winchester, Cedar Creek, Petersburg and Appomattox. After parole he returned to North Carolina and died in the old soliders home in Raleigh, NC.

Henry Harrison Hanes enlisted at the age of 20 for the CSA on June 15,1861. He was wounded at Seven Pines,VA on May 31, 1862 and was reported absent and wounded through Dec 1862. He furnished L.B. King as his substitute on Feb 24, 1863. Letters he wrote to his wife Nancy Williams during the war are in the Archives at Duke University in Durham,NC. He was my Great Great Grandfather.

Moore was born in Cool Spring, Iredell County, in 1840. He served four years in the 4th, was wounded twice, and captured on the retreat from Richmond in April 1865.

About 1866, Moore moved to Kentucky and farmed in Caldwell County until his death in 1914. He applied for and received a pension from the State of Kentucky.

Addison N. Wiseman, son of Isaac Wiseman born in Davidson County, lived at Rowan Co. Joined the CSA Army at the age of 24. He mustered into Co. K, 4th NC Infantry Regiment at Brunswick Co. NC. Leaving behind his wife, Sarah Brown Wiseman and children. Wounded at Fredericksburg December 13, 1862. Also received a wound at Chancellorsville. September 19, 1864 he was killed at Opequon Creek, near Winchester Virginia. He was laid to rest there. Addison's great grandfather, Jacob Wiseman was brother to Avery Counties William Edward Wiseman. That is the connection to my family.
