Alexander Beachboard - Unknown   
Enlisted in 2nd NC Mounted Inf Sept. 25, 1863 at age 35 ,height 5ft 7in ,blue eyes ,Fair hair,Wheel Wright from Buncombe Co NC. Recruited by Capt Kirk along with his brother Lorenzo Dow Beachboard. Paid to enlist $300,which encluded horse,rifle,gear. Capt Kirk broke off from 2nd NC Mounted and formed 3rd NC Mounted. Alex was listed as a deserter but was reinstated by a n act of Congress March 26 1869.He was granted a pension of $12 month.Brother Lorenzo returned to 2nd NC and was reinstated and given back pay. Note they also had 2 brothers who fought for the CSA. Mathew Anthony and George W.

Jonas C. Killian is my great, great grandfather. He was born in Lincoln Co., NC in 1827 and died in 1892. He had five sons.

As a side note, I published a text in 2000, THE HISTORY OF THE THIRD NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTED INFANTRY VOLUNTEERS, USA.The book is out of print, but was published by Heritage Press. The book contains the complete known list of the members of the 3rd NC Mounted Infantry, about 900 men.

Soloman's last name has been spelled Bangus and Bargus in differnt publications. Soloman was from Wilkes Co, NC. He and about a dozen other Wilks County boys went AWOL while in the Deep Gap area. Lee had already surrendered and home was just off the mountain. I dont blame them. Now buried in NW Ashe county, NC. Phillip Carpenter also listed here was my Step 3rd Great Grandfather (No blood but got his last name)
