The "78th Highlanders"
Enlisted in the 78th NY Infantry in 1861 in New York City at the age of 36. His records state that he was a Colour Bearer. He was wounded at Chancellorsville, May 3, 1863 and Peach Tree Creek, July 20, 1864.
Transferred with his regiment to the 102nd NY Infantry by consolidation, July 12, 1864. Mustered out with his Co on July 21, 1865.

Jordan B. Foster

Jordan B. Foster was my great-grandfather's brother. He enlisted in Co. K of the 78th New York Infantry in February of 1862, and died of typhoid fever on August 7, 1862, at Little Washington, Virginia. His brothers Nathan W. and Herschel A. also served in the Civil War. I have typed transcripts of letters from Jordan, as well as other Civil War family letters and other family history information.
