James Madison Seamans - Private
|
James Seamans enlisted in the 75th N.Y. Infantry, Co., G on September 25, 1861 at Butler, Wayne, New York. He was twenty years-old, 5'6' tall, light hair and complexion with blue eyes. His occupation was listed as a farmer. According to his military records, James participated in all operations of the regiment up to the battle of Port Hudson where he was killed on May 27, 1863. The burial site has not been found and it is possible his body is still on the battlefield.
