Gentry County Missouri Death Notice From Area Newspapers 1910-1912, GE-MO-19, Northwest Missouri Genealogical Society, PO Box 382, St Joseph, MO 64502, p 52:

KIER, Andrew J - - died 1 May 1911 at his home at Gentry, MO, aged 89. He had been in Gentry County, MO for 70 years. He was born in Ind. Co, Penn, 16 March 1822. Moved with his parents to Homes Co, Ohio in 1831. In 1841, he came to Gentry Co, MO. He married Miss Jane CASTER, 1 May 1845. Two children were born - - Robert, of Ariz & Elizabeth. His first wife died 30 Sept 1851. Then he married Elizabeth DARBY, 9 Dec 1852. Eight children were born - - William, Martha, Mary, James, Thomas, Grant, John & Edward. Andrew served in the Civil War in Co F 51st MO Vol Inf. Also the home guard. Burial in the New Friendship Church cemetery.

William P. Mathias was born 20 January, 1818 in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. He married Sarah Bates abt. 1844-45 in Pennsylvania. Their children were: George W. b. 10 August 1845 in Pennsylvania. the following children were born in Otter Creek, Ripley County, Indiana:Philip N. b. 24 September 1847; Elizabeth Cornelius b. 10 October 1849; Maria Jane b. 29 May 1852; John W. b.8 August 1854; Nancy Ellen b. 8 January 1857; Sarah Catherine b. 20 February 1859; William Henry b. 31 December 1861 (possibly in Missouri). The following children were born in Missouri: Abraham Lincoln b. 2 May 1864; Clifton Grant b. 18 August 1867; Mary Emma b. 5 May 1870; Emily? 1871.
Sarah Bates Mathias died 19 October 1876. William remarried 24 May 1877 to Sarah Pearce in Scotland County, Missouri. They had the following children: Elmer b. 1877; Jacob b. 12 October 1879; Thomas J. b. 10 November 1882. All 3 were born in Missouri.
William P. Mathias died 28 February 1894 2 1/2 miles North of Memphis and was buried at Lawn Ridge Cemetery. He had been a member of the Murray Post GAR.
