He entered service in 3 jul 1861 at High Point, Mo. into Co.K Cole County Home Guards,U.S. Reserve Corps.and served 90 days. On 25 Aug 1864 he enlisted into the 43rd, Capt. Andrew 'Jack' Hart's Company and served until mid November. Sometime in November of 1864 at the time of Price's Raid he enlisted again for a year and remained on duty guarding the railroad and fighting bushwhackers until about 15 Jul 1865.
He died at Leavenworth Kansas Hospital,Old Men's Ward and is buried in grave 1060.

James Vaughan - Private   
43rd Regiment Enrolled MO Militia Infantry Co B (Operations against Shelby Sep. 22-Oct. 26, 1863.) California MO Service record show wounded on OCT 7th 1964 while on picket duty. James was Died on 9 October 1864. He was probably shot near his home which was near the present day town of McGirk, Missouri. James Vaughan was buried in Old Lebanon Cemetary about two miles northwest of the present day McGirk, Missouri. His tombstone gave his date of birth as 8 September 1822.

Jesse Marion Charleston - Private   
Jesse Marion Charlton was born Jesse Marion Shane on 6 May 1848 in Dearborn County, Indiana. He was the son of Cecelia Shane, father unknown. He came to Harrison County, Missouri with his grandmother, Sarah Shultz Shane between 1860 and 1864. He joined Co E, 43rd Regiment, Enrolled Missouri Militia on 13 Aug 1864. Although he was only 16, he gave his age as 18 and his name as Jesse Charleston. He was honorably discharged on 30 Jun 1865. He married Rebecca Elizabeth Hale in Harrison County, Missouri on 1 Nov 1866 and moved to Hickory County, Missouri. He lived in Hickory County, Missouri as Jesse Marion Charlton for the rest of his life. He died on 14 Nov 1917 and is buried in the Little Niangua (aka McCain) Cemetery in Hickory County.

CHRISTIAN CARL SAMUEL DIETZEL - Private   
CHRISTIAN CARL SAMUEL DIETZEL (son of Georg Heinrich) was born on November 26, 1838, and died on April 4, 1910. He was born in Reschwitz, Prussia and is buried at the Moniteau Evangelical Church in Moniteau County, Missouri. Carl immigrated with his parents at the age of seven to America. He settled with his parents in the Moniteau (Missouri) Evangelic neighborhood between Jamestown, Prairie Home, Cedron, and the church. The home where he grew up is located about four miles northwest of Jamestown, Missouri, and is still standing today.

Carl was pressed into military service the first time, in California, Missouri on July 28, 1862, with the 43rd Regiment of the Enrolled Missouri Militia CO E(Federal Unit) as a private in Company E under Captain Moser. He was ordered into service by General James Totten.
