Gilbert Clough - Private   
8th Minnesota volunteer infantry regiment. He was bother to David Marston Clough Governor of Minnesota 1885-1889. He was co-owner of Clough-Hartley Lumber Mill near Minneapolis, MN. He mustered in Aug 14, 1862, as a private, discharged July 11, 1865. He died Dec 28, 1888 at his home in Minneapolis, MN from injuries sustained in a logging accident. He is buried at Clough cemetery, Isanti county, MN.

Samuel was postmaster at Chatfield, Minnesota and at the outbreak of hostilities raised a company and joined the 8th Minnesota Infantry as Captain of D company.
He was commander at Fort Pomme de Terre until 1864.
Samuel died on 20.11.1884 at Columbus, Columbia County, Wisconsin and is buried at the Hillside cemetery.
Promoted from Captain to Major for 'brave and meritorious service' and brevetted Lt Colonel.

Leonard Dudley Noyes - Private   
Served with brothers James & Thomas Sinclair (St. Clair) from August 1862 to July 1865. The 8th regiment was known as the Indian Regiment because of the involvement in the Indian Uprising of 1862. It was a mounted infantry unit. Deployed to south in 1864. Participated in battles in TN, part of Hooker's army in NC, and finished duty in Washington, DC. Unit was praised for toughness because of two years experience in Sioux Indian War on Minnesota frontier. There were 63 deaths in unit. (Much more info available on request).
