My great grandfather served in the 5th Massachusetts ( Pvt. Company B) at Bull Run and the 50th Massachusetts (2nd L Company D) at Port Hudson. Survived Small Pox Quarantine on the Monticello in New Orleans before rejoining 50th.

NOT my ancestor, but the ancestor of a friend of the family, currently residing in Hampstead, NH: CHARLES G. CANNEY was a 21 year old shoemaker from Haverhill, Mass., who enlisted as a Private on 19 Sep. 1862; he served in Co. F of the 50th Mass. Inf. Rgt. (9 Months), formerly the 7th Rgt., Mass. Vol. Mil.; he was mustered-into Federal service on 04 Oct. 1862; in the winter of 1862-63, the 50th Mass. went to Louisianna, where they participated in the Port Hudson Campaign (in support of Gen. Grant's Vicksburg Campaign) in May-June-July 1863; Pvt. CANNEY was mustered-out of Federal Service with his regiment, and honorably discharged upon the Expiration of his Term of Service (ETS) on 24 Aug. 1863.

James Jackson Eaton - Private   
He enlisted on Jauary 28, 1862 and was mustered in to Co. F, 17th Massachusetts Infantry on January 31, 1862. He was discharged for disability on February 14, 1862 in Baltimore, Maryland. He enlisted in Co. G, 50th Massachusetts Infantry on Sept. 19, 1862 and mustered out of Co. G, 50th Mass. on August 24, 1863 in Wenham, MA. He enlisted on December 16, 1863 as a private and was mustered in to Co. K, 59th Massachusetts Infantry on April 21, 1864. He was listed as wounded on May 15, 1864 (possibly at Spottsylvania) and died of disease on October 13, 1864.

NOT my ancestor, but the ancestor of a friend of the family, currently residing in Hampstead, NH: AUGUSTUS G. MORRISON was an 18 year old shoemaker from Haverhill, Mass.; he enlisted as a Private on 18 Aug. 1862, and served in Co. G of the 50th Mass. Inf. Rgt. (9 Months), formerly the 7th Rgt., Mass. Vol. Mil.; he was mustered-into Federal service on 19 Sep. 1862; in the winter of 1862-63, he and his regiment were sent to serve in Louisianna; the 50th Mass. participated in the Port Hudson Campaign (in support of Gen. Grant's Vicksburg Campaign) in May-June-July 1863; Pvt. MORRISON and the 50th Mass. were mustered-out of Federal service, and he was honorably discharged at the Expiration of his Term of Service (ETS) on 24 Aug. 1863. NOTE: he had subsequent service in Co. M of the 4th Mass. Heavy Artillery Regiment, with which he served in the Defenses of Washington.
