my 2nd great grandfather enlisted in the 1st Mass. company B in May 1861, I found company B were men from East Boston, Mass. he got very ill in a Virginia hospital while in service and was relieved honorably from his regiment, but shortly after re-enlisted in August 1861 and was sent to the 20th Mass. regiment infantry were he served his 3 years of service and was honorably mustered out on May 1864.

On 30 Jun 1862 he was reported missing at Nelson's Farm, Virginia. 3 May 1863 he was wounded 'through both thighs' at Chancellorsville, VA. He survived the war, transferring out into Company D, and re-enlisted in 9th VRC Regiment U.S. Veteran Reserve Corps. He mustered out of Company D, honorably discharged 18 Nov 1865.
