Veteran; wounded in action August 29, 1862, Bull Run, Va., and September 17, 1862, Antietam, Md. Lived at Southern Branch, National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers. Born in Ireland, 1844. Enlisted in Richmond 9 SEP 1862. Wounded in thigh and captured at Gettysburg, 2 JUL 1863. Died of wounds and jaundice 28 JUL 63. Initially buried Gettysburg National Cemetery. Reburied Hollywood Cemetery, 1872.

James Eusebius Armstrong - Private   
James E. Armstrong was the husband of my 2nd great grand aunt. The son of Irish immigrants, he was born in Wilmington, DE in 1840. He enlisted as a private in H. Co., 2nd MD Volunteers, Eastern Shore, on Aug 15, 1862 & kept a very interesting diary of his service. He mustered out on June 15, 1865. Extremely proud of his war service, he attended the march in Washington, D.C. in 1915 that celebrated the 50th anniversary of the war's end & was able to wear his old Union uniform. He died the following year in Baltimore, MD.

James G. Jackson - Corporal   
James G. Jackson was the husband of my 2nd great grand aunt. He enlisted as a Private in Co. H, Maryland 2nd Eastern Shore Infantry on August 18, 1862. He mustered out of that unit on January 23, 1865 & transferred to Co. H, 11th Maryland Infantry Regiment. He mustered out of the 11th Maryland at Baltimore Maryland on June 15, 1865.
