James Carey - Captain |
James was from Rowan Co. and had two brothers who served with the 4th Ky. (US) but it is unclear why he served with the 24th and not his brothers.James returned to Rowan in 63 to recruit troops but was captured and released three months later. He was wounded at the Battle of Resaca Ga. in 1864 James became a prominent judge in Rowan KY. after the war and was instrumental in the Cattle Wars of Rowan. Similar to a hatfield, Mccoy rivalry the states militia eventually had to come to Rowan to put down the Rebellion after alot of blood shed.
