Richard Curd Thomas was a MD.. He was from Warren Co. Ky. He served as Asst. Surgeon in the 2nd and 6th Regiments Kentucky Mounted Infantry. He surrendered at Washington Georgia 7 May 1865.

My great-grandfather was JW Edwards, a private in Co. A, 2nd KY Mounted Infantry, CSA. His two brothers, Solomon and Ezekiel, and their cousin George Washington Atchison also served in that Co. Only my great-grandfather survived the war. Ezekiel is buried at Hartsville, TN.

Born in Weakley Co., Tennessee in 1842. Enlisted at Camp Boone, Montgomery Co., Tennessee on 15 July 1861. Captured at the Battle of Fort Donelson on 16 Feb 1862 and sent to Camp Douglas Prison in Chicago. He was paroled and declared exchanged in Sept 1862. He was killed in action at the Battle of Chickamauga on 20 Sept 1863.

Breckinridge, brother of Col. W.C.P. Breckinridge. Attended Centre College and the University of Virginia. Lawyer in Danville and Lexington. Said to have been drummed out of college for drinking. In U.S. Coastal Survey. Married Kate Morrison; Lilla Morrison. Captain, Kentucky State Guard, May 11, 1861. Captain, Company B, Second Kentucky, July 5, 1861. Delegate to Kentucky secession convention. Confederate congressman, 1862-1863. Commissioned colonel of cavalry September 13, 1864, for a term of three months, in order to recruit behind Union lines in Kentucky.Prisoner of War ( POW ) Captured Woodford County, Kentucky, February 22, 1865. To Johnston's Island prisoner-of-war camp. Released May 22, 1865. Postwar lawyer and judge in Lincoln County, Kentucky, New York City, and Danville. Died March 13, 1915, Danville.Buried Lexington Cemetery. Kentucky Confederate governor Richard Hawes called him' a gentleman of considerable political intelligence. Enlisted at Camp Boone, TN on 16 July 1861 after traveling 165 miles to place of rendezvous. Captured at Ft. Donelson, TN 16 Feb 1862. Imprisoned at Camp Morton, IN from February to August 24, 1862. Moved from Camp Morton, IN to Vicksburg, MS to be exchanged. Fought at Ft. Donelson, TN, Hartsville, Stones River, Jackson, Chickamauga, Mission Ridge, Rocky Face Gap, Resaca, and Dallas, GA; from Dallas, GA to Atlanta; at Peachtree and Intrenchment Creeks; on Sand Town Road; at Jonesboro both days, and in the Mounted Infantry engagements. Surrendered at Washington, GA on 11 May 1865. Oath of Allegiance taken at Nashville, TN on 10 June 1865 and allowed to return home. Died 30 March 1904 at the Confederate Home in Pewee Valley, Oldham County, KY and is buried in the Confederate Cemetery there.

Charles Morehead Thomas - Private   
Charles is one of 17 Thomas' that served in this unit. It was truly a family affair. He enlisted at Harteville, on 14 August 1862 at age 15. He was paid his $50 bonus and was on detached duty per his CMR for Nov. Dec. 1862. He is found in Co. M and again in the [New] Co L. A pay receipt in his records show him being paid for the first time on 24 Sept. 1863. Paid $240.00 , $120 for service pay , 10 months at $12 per month and 40 cents a day for use of his horse for 300 days. He is paroled at Gallatin, Tenn. 17 May 1865 at age 18. Charles should have been placed in the 2nd KY Cavalry
