Daniel Welch was my Great Grandfather. My Grandfather used to tell me stories of how Daniel came over from Ireland as a child with his parents and lived in Mendon, New York. He did not know how Daniel got to Iowa ! Daniel was wounded at the Battle of Shiloh a few days after it started and had an arm amputated. Daniel died in 1906 and is buried in Menlo, Iowa cemetery along with other family members. God Bless you Daniel !!
