Jesse Bradley - Unknown
|
This is the father of Jesse D. and William M Bradley who both served in co. F of the 28th Illinois volunteers. Jesse D. (my Great-great Grandfather) was severely wounded at Shiloh and received a pension from the Army. His brother served until 1864 when his enlistment was up. The father went in at age 51 and served until the wars end. He is buried in Niles Kansas and his gravestone lists his unit information. Jesse D. is buried in Haskew Cemetery on the remote plains of Oklahoma...I think William is buried in Abilene Ks...but I have not seen his grave.

Emery Knotts was born in Butler County, Ohio in 1842. He moved to California after the war and settled in Nipomo, CA. He established the town's first saloon and then gave his business to his son, Ralph 'Jocko' Frederick Knotts who combined the saloon with his brother's (Burnett) next-door café and the neighboring tamale shop to create Jocko's Saloon and Steakhouse which is still located in Nipomo to this day.
Emery died in 1912 and was buried in Arroyo Grande Cemetery. He was an active business man on the Central Coast of California as well as a active member of the G.A.R.
