My husband's 2nd great grand uncle, Bailey Jeffries was born in Barbour Co., VA in 1837. He moved to Indiana in 1860. He enlisted in Co. E, 87th Indiana Inf. on 31, Aug. 1862. He mustered out on March 19, 1863. He died in West Plains, MO. in 1885.

Moved to Clinton,Iowa and worked in one of the local sawmills.Raised a large family with several boys and at least one girl(Alice)my great grandmother.Filed for Civil War Pension(Invalid) on Feb.10,1876. DOB 1844-DOD 1922.Buried in Oakland Cemetery,Clinton.His wife Martha,filed for widow's benifits on Jan. 25,1924.I have in my possession a tin type of him in his uniform with his musket. Also what I believe to be is his'tin'coffee cup and a sample of canister or grape shot.
