Jamas W. Adams was born in Harrison county, Indiana September 14,1840. When the civil war broke out he was attending DePauw university and on the 15th day of August 1862 he enlisted in Company H of the 66th Regiment of Indiana Infantry and served his country at the front untlil June 6th, 1865 when he was honorably discharged as a corporal. He married Elizabeth Ellis Coble June 20th, 1869. Buried Greenwood Cemetery, Newton, Harvey county, Kansas

James R. Anderson, born circa 1829, from original Pension Records, National Archives:

James R. Anderson married Nancy Vanover 23 Sep 1850. He died of chronic diarrhea (dysentery) on 11 Apr 1863 in Jefferson General Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.

Nancy was 32 years old when James died. Nancy later married Robert H. Rayburn/Rayborn on 4 Jun 1865, Scott Co, Indiana.

Certificate # 117762, dated 26 Aug 1868, filed at Madison Agency, Indiana:

$8.00 a month commencing 5 Jun 1865 + $2.00 per child until each one's 16th birthday, commencing 25 Jul 1866 and ending 6 Dec 1872. Certificate sent to claimant at Vienna, Indiana.
