Thomas DeWitt Nelson - Sergeant Major
|
Thomas D was actually Regimental Sergeant Major, but you don't seem to include that in your choices. I don't beleive that there was such a rank as Master Sergeant during the Civil War.

My great great great grandfather immigrated in 1954 from Germany and fought in the Civil War. He mustered out in 1865 and got married a couple months later. My great great grandfather was conceived before he died in 1866.
