My GG Grand Uncle
Benjamin Snow Jumper served in the Civil War under his father, Alden Haden Jumper. While delivering mail, he and his companion were accosted by rebels and Benjamin was shot in the knee. The doctors recommended amputation, but Benjamin refused and walked with a severe limp thereafter. After the war, he moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he would later die of gangrene and complications resulting from the bullet in his knee.
