Robert was a great uncle. He was born in Madison County ,ky and moved to Brown County, Illinois. He enlisted in 1862. Medically discharged in 1865. Later went to Nebraska to homestead but finally returned to Madison County, ky. He died in 1910 and is buried there.

My great-grandfather, Joshua Brown, enlisted in Co. H, 84th Illinois Infantry on July 22, 1862. He took part in the battles of Perryville, Stone River and was through the entire campaign march from Louisville to Nashville in December 1862. After being wounded, he was in the Atlanta campaign and the battles of Franklin and Nashville. He returned to Mercer, Illinois in June 1865. He moved his family to Deuel Co., Nebraska in 1888.
