He was born Kingsbury, NY, 1 Dec 1809 to Seth Allen & Lucy (King) Allen, Married Emeline Prudence Parker 20 Nov 1839, in Syracuse, NY. They moved to Bibb Co., Georgia in 1839 and had 6 daughters. He enlisted as Private, 13 Jun 1863, died 2 Aug 1864. He is my GGG Uncle.

Joseph was born in Germany He enlisted in Capt T.W. Brantley's Co A Ga Vols in April of 1862. This along with other units became Co A 54th Ga Infantry. Assigned to Dept of Georgia, South Carolina & Florida. In later part of the war it was attached to the Army of Tennessee.
He mustered 22 Nov 1862 at Macon Ga. His first battle was at Grimball's Landing on James Island, Charleston. Atlanta Campaign 1864, New Hope Church, Kennesaw Mountain, Peachtree Creek, Atlanta siege, Jonesboro, Ga, Franklin Tenn, Nashville, Carolina Campaign, Bentonville. 20 Feb. 1865 finds in the Floyds House & Ocmulgee Hospital in Macon Ga with a bad back from lifting seige artillery and a double Inguinal Hernia. He is attached to Smith's and Cleburn's Division. He is granted a sick furlough in late Feb 1865. We are related by a distant marriage.

Joined Captain Bussell's Company. Private - May 12, 1862. Diagnosed with Typhoid fever July 4th, 1862 returned home until September 21st, 1862, armed in camp Sept. 22nd, 1862.

Transferred from Company H to Company F, January 1, 1863.
Company F, 'Savannah Cadets', men from Chatham County. The company of Savannah Cadets was organized 17 May 1861 , as a company of boys, most of whom were sixteen years of age. On 13 May 1862, the company was mustered into the Confederate Army and served the Confederacy as a defensive company on the coast around Savannah. Then in May 1863 they joined the Army of Tennessee at Dalton, GA. under captain W. T. Chisholm,

James McCurdy RODGERS - Private   
James joined up with his three brothers, Samuel, Adam, and Robert. He became sick and was treated at the Camp Bethesda hospital near Savannah, Georgia hospital, Georgia on 29 FEB 1864. Bethesda Orphan Home was converted into a military hospital for the Confederate Soldiers. He survived and lived until 1908.

Samuel Craig Rodgers - Private   
Samuel was born in 1836 in South Carolina. He enlisted as a Private on 12 May 1862 in Company H 'Russell's Guards', 54th Infantry Regiment Georgia on 16 May 1862. Surrendered Company H, 54th Infantry Regiment Georgia on 26 Apr 1865 at Greensboro, NC. He enlisted with four of his brothers. All survived the war. Two of his brothers-in-law also served in the Georgia 20th Regiment.
54th Infantry Regiment, organized at Savannah, Georgia, during the summer of 1862, contained men recruited in the counties of Lamar, Appling, Harris, Muscogee, Bartow, Chatham, and Barrow. The unit moved to the Charleston area and was involved in numerous conflicts including the fight at Battery Wagner. Later it was assigned to Mercer's and J.A. Smith's Brigade, Army of Tennessee. The 54th participated in the Atlanta Campaign, Hood's Tennessee operations, and the Battle of Bentonville. During the Atlanta Campaign, July 20 to September 1, it reported 93 casualties and in December, 1864, totaled 168 effectives. The regiment surrendered on April 26, 1865. Colonel Charlton H. Way, Lieutenant Colonel Morgan Rawls, and Major William H. Mann were in command.
