Conflicting reports from his wife that he was killed at Gettysburg but the Page 207 Roster in Benning's Brigade, Volume 2 lists him as killed at Chickahominy. I will continue searching for clarification but would appreciate any help from interested parties.

Enlisted in Co. F (Cherokee Brown Riflemen) 2nd Georgia (Volunteer) Infantry. Assigned Benning's Brigade, Hood's Division, I Corps, Army of Northern Virginia (ANV). Another of my great-great-grandfathers, Pleasant B Collins was in 3rd Arkansas Infantry, Robertson's Texas Brigade, also assigned to Hood's division, I Corps, ANV. At Gettysburg, Benning's Brigade and 2d Georgia supported Robertson's Texas Brigade and 3rd Arkansas, at the Devil's Den. So, unbeknownst to them, my two great-great-grandfathers, one paternal, the other maternal, who never knew one another in life, literally walked in one another's footsteps at Gettysburg; only to have their paths cross again on another July day; my birth 89 years later. I hope when we all get to Heaven we can have a chuckle over the irony of that.
