“Military Items:
The propeller Jersey Blue, which reached New York yesterday, from New Bern, N.C., on the 11th, brought the body of Capt. E.R. Lee, of Co. D, 11th Conn regiment, who was killed at the taking of New Bern. It was immediately forwarded to the home of the deceased at Hartford, by Col. Almy, the Connecticut State military agent at New York. The remains will reach Hartford this morning and are to be received with military honors by the City Guard.”

Daniel I Tarbox - Private   
Daniel enlisted in Nov. 1861 at Hartford. The regiment sailed to Annapolis, the 11th Connecticut Volunteers became part of Burnside Expedition and sailed to Hatteras, NC. Daniel took part in the battle of New Bern in March. The 11th became part of the Ninth Army Group in summer of 62. They went to Hampton, Virginia in August and moved towards Washington. He fought in the battle of South Mountain and was shot at Burnsides bridge (Sept 17th 1862) in the Battle of Antietam and died the next day. Daniels remains were brought back to Brooklyn Ct (hometown) by his brother in October of 1862.

“Well Known Civil War Veteran Passed Away in New London.
Captain Albert E. Daniels, who died at his home in New London Saturday, was captain of Company H, Eleventh Connecticut Volunteers, which served in
the Burnside expedition so creditably. Captain Daniels was engaged in the battles of Roanoke Island, Newbern, Balls Bluff, Malvern Hill, Fredericksburg, Lookout Mountain and Petersburg. His company saw hard service at Antietam, and he was twice wounded.”

Vivant Stowe - Unknown   
Vivant enlisted in Kent CT, 22. Jan. 1862. He joined the 13th Connecticut Infantry, Company C. August of the same year Vivant was discharged due to disability. He returned home to his wife Polly and several children. Once he was well again, he re-enlisted with the 11th Infantry Regiment of Connecticut, Company H. May of 1864 Vivant died during the battle of Swift Creek, VA, also know as: Arrowfield Church. Vivant is my son, Nathaniel's, great great great grandfather. The family still has Vivant's last letter, written to his wife Polly, before Swift Creek.
