Charles S. Shields was triplet brother of Isaac Denton Shields (4th Ark Infantry) --born in March 1834 in Cumberland KY and moved with his family to Hempstead County (town Washington) AR. The other triplet brother died in childhood at the age of 10. Charles enlisted as a private in the 24th Ark Infantry at its formation, I think in June of 1862. He like so many other civil war soldiers died of disease in camp with his regiment in Jefferson County Ark on Oct 2, 1862 and is buried in the local confederate cemetery--White Sulfur Springs Cemetery. He was survived by his wife and had 3 children, one of whom died before the war as an infant, and the third child was born a mere 5 days before my great great uncle's demise, so sad.

Escaped after his capture at Island # 10 in April 1862. Re-enlisted with Company C, 24th Arkansas Infantry in June 1862. Died of disease at Camp White Sulphur Springs Nov 1862.

GW Morgan initially enlisted in the 24th Ark Inf. After Arkansas Post he was in the 19th/24th Ark Inf Consolidated, also known as Hardy''s Regiment. He was paroled May, 1865 at Marshall, Texas. He is buried in Dennison Cemetery in Idabel, Oklahoma.

Enlisted in Hardy's Regiment and temporirily attacted to Col. C. L. Dawson's Reg't.

James enlisted 16 June 1862. His commander was Col Pastlack. He is found as a Pvt. in Co. B 4th Arkansas Infantry also. He was captured three times and was exchanged and continued the fight.
During the latter part of the war he fought in the Cavalry and rode with Col. Price on his raid thru Missouri.

Not a relative, just another soldier's grave I found and posted. He is buried in Board Camp Cemetery, Board Camp, Polk Co., Arkansas.

David Hamilton Kuykendall enlisted in 'H' Company, 24th Arkansas Infantry Regiment on 25 Jun 1862, at Dallas, AR. He was on detached duty with 'H' Company when the rest of the 24th was taken at Arkansas Post, AR., on 1 Jan 1863.
Re-enlisted in Company 'E', Hardy's Arkansas Infantry Regiment, which was organized by consolidating the parts of the 19th, (Dawson's), and 24th Arkansas Infantry Regiments, and Crawford's Infantry Battalion not taken at Arkansas Post.
He participated in the Red River Campaign, (Mar-May 1864), including the Battle at Jenkin's Ferry on 30 Apr 1864 where he may have been killed in action.
David Hamilton Kuykendall was one of 4 brothers to serve in the Confederate Army. Two older brothers, (John Gabriel, 4th Arkansas Infantry Regiment and Spear Fort, 15th Northwest Arkansas Infantry), and one younger brother, (Isaac, 4th Arkansas Infantry). Also 4 brothers-in-law, John R., Joseph, and Thomas Coin, 34th Georgia Infantry, and Samuel Jasper Crossno, Rieff's Mounted Company, Arkansas State Troops and then the 9th Missouri Infantry.

Robert was my GG Grandfather. He was born in Henderson Co, TN in 1839. He moved to Mena, AR in 1855 and joined the Confederacy on 25 June 1862. He was in Co. H, 24th, Regt Ark Inf CSA. He was also in Co E, Dawsons Regt. I show him as a Major at the end of the war.

Robert was a Confederate the rest of his life. He flew his flag on his wall all year except Confederate Day when it flew outside his home. He also wore his Confederate uniform on that day and walked around Cumby, TX where he lived. He lived to be 101 and wore the uniform until it wore out. One was rented for his 100th birthday & he was also buried in his originial uniform.

G.W. Fry, Pvt. Enlisted 20 June 1862 at Danville, AR. He was captured 11 Jan. 1863 at Arkansas Post and sent to Camp Douglas, IL. Paroled and released in April 1863. He was killed in action at the Battle of Chickamauga, Sept. 1863. He is my great,great,great grandfather.

William Fry served in the 24th with his brother G.W. Fry. He enlisted 20 Jan 1862 at Danville, AR. He was captured at Arkansas Post and sent to Camp Douglas, IL. Paroled and released in April 1863. He died of smallpox 25 April 1863 at Petersburg, VA.

Captured at Arkansas Post. Paroled from POW camp. Enlisted in Company H, Arkansas Dawon's-Hardy's Infantry Regiment and probably fought at Chickamauga.(Not to be confused with Peyton M. Epperson, born in 1811 who served with the Union 4th Arkansas.) There is also a listing for a pension application with the Union outfit his brother George T. was in, with the spelling Payton. Perhaps Payton switched sides towards the end of the war?
