Company I
Thomas Andrew Jackson Cliett - Private
Thomas was born 14 Feb 1826 in Fayette Co. Ga. The 63rd was a reserve regiment and was first called the 2nd Reserve. The 63rd was made up of about nine regiments and three battalions of reserve units. Organized in July 1864 and assigned to protect Mobile and the Bay forts of Spanish and Blakely. Thomas was one of the older men in the unit as most were 15 -17-year-olds. There is an interesting book about this unit titled " Too Little Too Late". I have one source that places Thomas in Co I. I have not found him in the archives. He married Sarah Ann Johnson, my distant cousin. He died 16 Feb 1895 in Clay County, Mississippi.
