He served for 3 years and 9 months and was wounded (shell shock) at Petersburg, VA in 1864, and surrendered at Appomattox Courthouse in Virginia, with Lee's Army of Northern Virginia, and was paroled on April 10, 1865.

He appears on a register of officers and soldiers of the Army of the Confederate States who were killed in battle or died of wounds or disease. Killed on June 27, 1862 at Gaines Mill, [Virginia].
Caleb Jones appears on a register of claims for deceased officers and soldiers from Alabama that was filed on September 5, 1862. Certificate 4046. Claims documents are in the file, which Identifies Lucy Jones as the widow of Caleb Jones. Claim paid to June 27, 1862 as date of death. (National Archives, Individual Confederate Soldier Service Records, M311 Roll 234). I salute him.
