Lemuel P Bonds - 1st Sergeant
ADAH record show enlistment 3/1/1863 at Warren Mills,Mississippi as a 1st Sgt in
Moreland’s Alabama Calvary Co D Muster pay roll September 4, 1864 Last paid November 1, 1863 by Major Thompson
M.D. I am still not clear on the exact history or service record otherwise. Moreland was captain of the 'Burnsville Blues', Co. 'E', 17th Mississippi. Moreland resigned in July 1862 and came home to raise Co. 'C', Roddey's 4th Alabama Cavalry Regiment, which organized at Warren's Mills, Sept. 7, 1862. Lemuel P.Bonds 'Cruise' enlisted at Warren Mills according to his muster roll. But it was in 1863. I suspect he may have served in another branch of the military since he was a 1st Sgt at the time of his enlistment and all of his friends had enlisted in 1862.He is not to be comfused with his cousin, Lemuel C. Bonds, who served in the same Regiment but a different Company.
