15th West Virginia Infantry

Drummer. Oldest soldier in the Regiment. Was born 1794. He was a Drummer Boy in the War of 1812 with Captain John Sharp's Company made up of men from Wood County, Virginia and Washington County, Ohio. He served in the War of 1812 along with his Father Benjamin Badgley. He served in this regiment with his son Daniel C. Badgley. His other son, Drury, was a Corporal with the 1st West Virginia Cavalry.

Surname is DeBarr in most other records. In some census records he is Benjamin D. Barr.

Isaiah was in the 13th WV Infantry, Co B. He was wounded while traveling from Mud Bridge4 to Barboursville when he was fired upon by a band of bushwackerson April 9, 1864. McCoy was shot but did not die due to that wound then but later dies on 12/5/1865

John was the second husband to my gggrandmother Christina nee'' Becker Walther. Records say that this regiment was from Petersburg, Hardy County, WV

Seeking information regarding Civil War medal created for soldiers serving from WV. Would like to locate 'For Liberty' medal for J. T. Schiefer of Company B, 15th WV Infantry.

Found on Ancestry.com in Civil War records, he was born in 1828 in Virginia and in 1860 was in Roane, Virginia the census says his post office was Roxalana.

Henry Scott joined the 15th Regiment as a fifth sergeant and was promoted to full 2nd Lieutenant on November 30, 1864. He was mustered out on June 14, 1865.

John Marshall Van Camp was wounded after the surrender of Lee at Appomatox Courthouse, VE. in a battle at Ft. Monroe, VA April 26, 1865. His head wound ultimately led to his blindness. He died in 1919. He was my great-grandfather.

Isaac Price was born Sept. 17, 1846 and was from Barbour County, West Virginia. He lost both arms and was wounded in one thigh at the Battle of Cedar Creek near Winchester, Va. He had 14 children (10 before the war; 4 after) and died at the age of 70.

Any photos or information would be greatly appreciated. I'm also looking for the WV medals that he may have been awarded. Thank you!

Became a Physician after the war.

Thomas enlisted on September 15, 1863 as a Private in Company G, 15th Regiment West Virginia Infantry and in either May or June of 1865 he transferred as a Private to Company G, 10th Regiment, West Virginia Infantry. He was Honorably Discharged on August 9, 1865. Thomas was my Great Grandfather.

I have my ancestors diary he kept during the war

Anthony was born in Plattsburgh, NY, in 1836. By the time of the 1860 US Census, he was living in Benwood, Marshall Co., Va. He is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, W. Va.
