David originally enlisted in the 22nd Virginia (CSA) with his brothers Joel & John Baldwin. Joel & John transferred to the 36th Virginia Infantry. John was killed 1862 in Fayetteville, VA & Joel was killed 1864 in Strasburg, VA,
Brother in Law of Samuel Estep, son in law of Pleasant Estep. David was severly wounded at the Battle of Cross Keys. He died March 9, 1908.
Brother of Isom Baldwin 4th West Virginia, USA. Isom died of disease in 1865.

I have a photograph of his tombstone. He is buried just off McCorkle Rd., Sod, WV. To reach the burial ground, take US 119 to the McCorkle Rd. exit, drive just to where you see the first house on your left. The cemetery is on the knoll this side and above this house. As far as I know, it is not kept up. The person living in the first house on your left is a descendant of his. There are a few other graves here.
