23rd Texas Infantry

Austin adopted the Holland name after emancipation. His surname 'Holland' is not shown on his NARA records. His first name is shown only and he is listed as a COOK before his release in 1865. It is believed that he was also the body servant to John T Loyd of Upshur County, Texas who served in the 18TH Texas Infantry/Company H (prior to John's death in 1862). I would like to talk to Chris Loyd about this.
