William was born in East Dundee, Kane Co. Illinois 2 Jan 1842. The 1860 census finds him at age 18 in St. Maries, Refugio Co. Texas. He enlists 1 Jan 1863 in Capt. Thomas Rabb's Co D 33rd Regt. Duff's Partisan Rangers and mustered on the 24th at Camp McCord. His horse is valued at $125 and equipment at $30. He has 10 items in his archival file in this Regt. In Apr 1864 he is on recruiting duty. Service in Duff's Partisan Rangers was in Gano's & Hardeman's Brigade, Trans Miss. Dept. Field officers were Col James Duff, Lt Col. James R Sweet and Majors Santos Benevides, John T Breckenridge. William has 5 cards in his archival file for McCord's Frontier Regt. aka 46th Battalion Cavalry. where he was in Co A. Information on this unit is sparse, but the field officers were. Col. James E McCord, Lt Col. James B Berry, & Major W.J. Alexander. William died 10 Oct 1905 in Atascosa, Texas and is buried in the Alamo Masonic Cem. at San Antonio. His wife applied for a CSA Pension # 32837 which was approved 12 May 1916. He was my 3rd cousin 4 x removed.

Benjamin was born 30 Mar 1834 in Alabama. He has three cards in his archival file. On the 1860 census he is in Wilson, Bexar Co. Texas, the Post Office is at Panna Maria. He joins at Camp Davis on 24th Dec 1862 Capt. James M Hunter's Co., Col. James E. McCord's Mounted Frontier Regiment. at one point this unit is referred to as the 46th Regt. At enlistment his horse is valued at $130 and equipment at $20. There is no official regimental record for this Regiment. There was one battle at Dove Creek where the regiment by mistake attacked a peaceful encampment of Indians with disastrous results. In the first part of 1865 the regiment began to denigrate and on 8 Jan 1865 Benjamin went home.

Samuel was born 16 June 1833 in Shelby County, Alabama. He has 4 cards in his archival file. The 1860 census finds him at age 26 in Denton, Texas. The Post Office is at Carter Texas. He was enlisted by H.C. Holman on 29 Dec 1862 at Red River Station. Capt. J.T. Rowland's Company, McCord's Mounted Regt. Mustered into Confederate Service 1 March 1864. His horse was valued at $800 - $1000. Equipment $150. Others mentioned were Col. James B Berry, & Major W.J. Alexander. He died 3 Jan 1913 and is buried in Divide Cem. Coke County, Texas. We are related by marriage.

William was born March 1837 in Shelby County Alabama. The 1860 census finds him at age 21 Denton, Texas. The Post Office is at Carter. Enlisted at Red River Station by H.C. Holman on 29 Dec 1862. Capt. J. T. Rowlands's Company. McCord's Mounted Frontier Regiment. He has 3 cards in his archival file. His horse value is $175 and equipment $30. Mustered into Confederate Service 1 March 1864 and became 46th Texas Cavalry Battalion. His horse situation had greatly improved as at this time his horse value is $800 and equipment $150. He died 4 Nov. 1920 and is buried at the Roscoe Cem. Nolan County, Texas.

Elcaney was born 24 Dec 1920 in Alabama. He has 3 cards in his archival file. He enlisted at Red River Station on 10 May 1863 in Capt. T.J. Rowland's Company, McCord's Mounted Regiment of Frontier Guards for 3 years or the war. His horse is valued at $285 and equipment $140. This unit was transferred from state to Confederate service 1 March 1864. We are related by a distant marriage.

Jesse was born in Springfield, Greene Co. Missouri. I have found one reference Index card on him. He enlisted 8 Mar 1862 in Caldwell Co. Texas and mustered in DeWitt County. His horse is valued at $125 and his equipment at $25. His shotgun is valued at $25. He was discharged 14 Feb 1863 at the end of his service contract. The officers who valued his horse and equipment were Capt. John James Dix, Jno. T Miller, C H. Sanders, A.G. Stevens and Joseph Walker. This mounted regiments appointed officers on 29 Jan 1862 were. Col James M Norris, Lt. Col. Alfred L Obenchain [ who would soon be murdered] & Major James Ebenezer McCord. They began 17 March - 17 April choosing locations for 18 outposts and campsites. This unit was conscripted into The Confederate Army in May of 1864 and designated as the 46th Regiment Cavalry and served in the Trans Mississippi Dept. on the Texas frontier principally against Indians. It was formed with 1.240 men and in April 1865 only 102 men remained as the others went home. The field officers at that time were Col. James E McCord, Lt. Col. James B Berry and Major W.J. Alexander. Jesse was married to Nancy Mary Keese born 16 June 1836. He died 12 Jan 1901 in Caldwell Co Texas. We are related by a distant marriage.

James was born 30 Mar 1845 in Brazos, Burlington, Texas He enlisted 18 Jun 1863 at Breckenridge, in Capt. R.M. Whitesides Co of Rangers McCord's Co of Mounted Rangers. He has 2 cards in his archival file. He married 3 April 1867 my 4th cousin 3 x removed Mellisa Virginia Garland. This unit when accepted into Confederate Service was known as the 46th Battalion. Texas Mounted Cavalry. James's wife drew a Confederate pension based on his service. He died 18 Oct 1915 and is buried at Thorp Springs Cem. in Hood Co. Texas.

James [1827-1870] Lived in Titus, Texas. Found him in this unit but have no details of his service. He came to the area from Georgia along with several other family members.

The file did not list a first name. Their are four card in his file. He appears on a Regimental Return card dated April, 1865. *McCord's Frontier Regiment Texas Cavalry [Formerely McCord's Mounted 'Frontier' Regiment, Texas State Troops] completed its organization Feb. 11, 1863 with ten companies which had been mustered into State Service. It was transferred to the service of the Confederate States March 1, 1864.

Liberty was 23 years old. He has 2 CMR's and an Index card with his data. Enlisted 20 Dec 1862 at Camp San Saba for 3 years or the war. Mounted Vols Commanding officer J. E. McCord. His horse is valued at $170 and equipment at $30. One source has him in Co B Texas Frontier Battn: He is on the roll of SCV Valverde Camp 1419 at at Roswell NM. He was the husband of my 3rd cousin 4 x removed, Rebecca Emma Pankey [ 1852 - 1929]
