The 2nd texas state cavalry was originally organized in houston texas on november 21, 1863 and colonel gideon smith was placed in comand. on december 18, 1863 the 2nd texas state cavalry was attached to n.w. townes cavalry brigade, slaughter's Division, district of texas, new mexico, and arizona, trans-mississippi Department. Captain Thomas A Wooten's Company aka as Co H. He has 2 cards in his archival file. He died 21 Nov. 1899 and is buried at Ryan Cem. in Liberty Co. Texas. There is no known history for this unit.
