James was born 19 June 1843 in Anson County NC. His family moved to Mississippi and on to Texas where he is listed as 17 y/o on 1860 census. He enlists in Capt. Joseph P Wier's Company of Mounted Vols. on 11 Sept. 1961 at Camp Herbert near Hempstead. His horse is valued at $145 and equipment at $20. It is 260 miles to rendezvous. 23 Dec 1861 finds him in the hospital at Houston Tx with Dx of Typhoid Fever. He recovers and rejoins his Regiment which is nicknamed "The Swamp Fox" for its ability to navigate the swamps and appear out of nowhere and attack. Battles: White River Expedition, Skirmish at Whitney's Lane on 19 May 1862, Cotton Plant on7 July 1862, L'Anguille Ferry, and the Red River Campaign in Louisiana. He has 5 cards in his archival file. He died 30 Jan 1877 and is buried in Covington Cem, Covington, Hill Co. Texas. We are related by marriage.

William was born in North Carolina. He enlists in Co A 12th Texas Cavalry in the field at Camp Pasgalo, in Louisiana on 1 Oct 1863. The regiment was engaged in the Red River Campaign. Enlisted by Capt. Wier for 3 years. His brother James is in this company. He has 2 cards in his archival file. He was assigned to the Trans-Mississippi Dept. He survived the war and died and is buried in Covington, Hill County Texas. He married Idella Rushing in 1875, my distant cousin.

My great-great-grandfather was born, 30 Apr 1832 in TN. Married Rosa A. .Gage. Died 11 Ict 1897, and is buried in Bastrop Co, TX. Source is family Bible and US Confederate pemsions 1884-1958, File #45367, Vol 1-646 and 1-283, State Acchives.

Born January 9, 1844 in Missouri, Abalsom moved with his parents Obediah and Delila Taylor Epps to Collin County, Texas. He enlisted in Well's Battalion at Ft. McColloch July 1, 1862. Part of the time he was on teamster duty. He married Lucy Jane Phillips in 1865 and they raised their family in Collin County. Abalsom was a preacher and farmer after the war. He died June 12, 1914 and is buried at the Mount Olive (Williams) Cemetery in McKinney, Texas. His wife filed for a pension from the state of Texas and received it.

Jasper was born in Missouri in 1842 the son of Obediah and Delila Taylor Epps. He married in 1861 before enlisting with his brother in Well Battalion of the 12th Cavalry. He returned home to Collin County, Texas and died December 16, 1888.

Trying to find my grandfather's military history, as he was in the AEF during WW1 (Battle of Argonne Forest, and Chateau Thierry, France), then re-enlisted at end of his term again, and was stationed for some time at Fort Brown, had training at MacArthur TX also.

I have a complete roster of Parsons 12 Texas Calvary. All of the combat they saw as listed in the OFFICIAL RECORDS. CC Jones enlisted from Johnson County Texas.

Moss' Co. 4th Texas Dragoons on 28 Oct.1861 in Hempstead, Austin County Texas. His horse was valued at $125.00 and equipment at $17.00. His rank was 3rd Corporal and was the units Bugler. He died 23 Nov. 1915 in Pursley, Navarro County Texas.

George has but two cards in his archival file. Enlisted 11 March 1862 in Eutaw, Texas. [Parson's mounted Vols] aka [4th Dragoons]. Born 20 August 1835 in Attala County Mississippi. Married 3 times. Died 11 May 1910 and buried with CSA headstone at Hogan Cemetery, Thornton, Limestone County Texas.

John has three cards in his archival file. He was born in Madison County Mississippi. He enlisted on 17 May 1863 at 30 years of age in Parsons 4th Mounted Dragoons. Enlisted by J. P. Brown for 3 years. This became Co K 12th Regiment Texas Cavalry. He married twice. He died 28 Sept 1908 and is buried with his 2nd wife at Old Lebanon Cem. Lebanon, Hill County Texas. Deo Vindice
