Tristram was from Mount Crogan, Chesterfield County South Carolina. His family sent six sons to the war and all came home.
When Sherman came thru the area he burned their homes and all farm building plus destroying all equipment and took all they could steal before burning everything. For good measure he also burnt the courthouse and all records he could find knowing fullwell the hardship the loss of records would cause.
