Capt. Beauregard's Company Light Artillery (Ferguson's Artillery)

Fredrick enlisted at Columbia, SC on 1 Sept. 1862 for three years or the war Enlisted by Lt. Hinks. He is paid by Capt Wickham on 31 Oct 1863.

James also served in Co. D. 2nd SC Arty and this is well documented. His widow Bettie L. Gandy applied for pension on his service with the English Light Artillery Ferguson's Arty Battery under W.E Charles Company. He enlisted 15 April 1862 and served with that unit until close of war. He was discharged at Goldsborgh, NC . They were married 27 Feb. 1861 and James died 11 August 1881.

Regt K, South Caroina Rifles, Captured 4/12/1865 at Salisbury, Nc. Held in Nashville, Tn; Louisville, Ky; and Camp Chase, Ohio. Paroled at Appomattox.

Thomas was born 8 Aug 1840 near Charleston, SC. Was elected Captain in to state service on 1 Jan 1862, then transferred in to Confederate Service 4 April 1862. He was a Citadel Cadet who participated as the Captain of the Battery in the shelling of the U.S.S Star of the West on 9 Jan 1861. During his service at the battle at Wright's farm 14 July 1863 near Jackson, Miss., he was struck by a sharpshooter's bullet in the chest that seriously damaged his lungs. He miraculously survived and was sent back to Charleston but never recovered sufficiently to return to the field. He was later promoted on 2 Aug1864 then backdated to 15 June 1864 to Major of Artillery. He should not be confused with another Confederate Major with the same name that served in the 6th South Carolina Cavalry. He was the father-in-law of my 9th cousin 1 x removed. PS: after the war he moved north and married the daughter of the Governor of the state of Maryland, Served in the State Dept in Sweden. He died 11 Aug 1922 in Boston. He and his wife are buried at Green Mount Cem. in Boston, Suffolk Co. Mass.

Pvt. Henry P. Roberts 1825-1911 served in Co. B, Manigault's Battalion, SC Artillery, CSA. He is buried at Rehobeth Baptist Church Cemetery (or Rehobeth Cemetery) in Horry, SC. He is my ggg-uncle via his sister Rachel Roberts Edwards 1830-1873 (w/o Wm Edwards) of Horry, SC. Henry & Rachel were born in Wayne, Co., NC & moved to Horry, SC in the 1850's.

In the War of Northern Aggression my gg grandfather Abraham Hill (1826-1907) enlisted with Captain Beauregard's Company, South Carolina Light Artillery, and served as a private until the end of the war. He was at the surrender with Robert E. Lee at Appomattox, Virginia. He married Martha Jane King and both are buried in the Franklin Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Royston, Georgia.
