Born: August 15th, 1815, Lincoln County, NC Died: January 26th, 1902, Cleveland County, NC Was the son of William Hull 1785-1861 He is buried at Antioch Baptist Church in Blacksburg, SC Enlisted in the 4th NC Senior Reserves in 1864. Was my 4th Great Grandfather

James was born in 1816 in Union County NC. He was enrolled 8 June 1864 in Co I 4th Regiment one of two CMR's gives 2nd Regiment. This unit was also called 73rd Regiment NC Infantry. Engaged in the Carolina Campaign. Officers Col. John F Hoke, Major, John N. Prior & Lt. Col. Leroy W Stowe . Assignments: Mounted Patrol guard for Northwestern NC counties. Assigned to Connally's Brigade, Senior Reserves, 3rd Military District, Dept of NC Jan-Feb 1865. Most of their duties were guarding prisoners as well as bridges and railway patrol. The unit roster contained the names of 984 men. it surrendered as part of the Army of Tennessee at Durham Station, Orange Co NC on 26 April 1865. The 4th Reserves do not appear in the Official Records. He is described as 46 years 9 months and 23 days old with black eyes and hair. fair complexion and 5 ft. 6 1/2 inches tall. He is buried at Old Luthern Church, Salisbury, Rowan Co. NC. He is the father in law of my 3rd cousin 4 x removed.
