Enlisted Sept 25 1863. Appointed by order of Lt Col Smith Oct 7 1863 Paid $300 to join which included horse gun and gear Served with brother Alexander Beachboard. Both left on recon with Capt Kirk and were listed as deserters. Lorenzo returned May 3 1864 to 2nd NC Mounted but Alex stayed with Capt Kirk to form 3rd NC Mounted. Mustered out Aug 18 1865 last paid Dec 31 1864 Had to brothers who fought with the Confedercy George W Beachboard 29th NC Inf Army of Tenn Matthew A Beachboard 60th NC Inf Army of Tenn

Born in North Carolina and enlisted at Cumberland Gap. After the war he moved to Kentucky and married Louisa McGinnis.

Anderson Franklin Shipman is my great-grandfather on my mother's side, and the only one in my family (I think) to have fought on the Union side. He later transferred to Company H. In his pension records, his name is given as Andrew.

Born abt 1833-died before 1870. Enlisted at New Bern on October 6, 1863 for three years. Appointed 1LT by MAJ GEN Benjamin Butler in December 1863 and assigned to Company C as Recruiting Officer. Resigned due to physical disability on April 9, 1864.

Entered service from Madison Co, NC. Company D 2nd NC Mtd Inf, Later Company E 3rd NC Mtd. Inf. under Col. George W. Kirk. After the war was a Farmer in Madison Co., NC Died 1913 in Madison Co, NC. My GGrandfather's Brother.

Reddick is buried in Hollywood Cemetery, Soldiers Section, in Richmond, VA. His headstone states Pvt Reddick Holley Co E 2 NC Inf CSA 1834- June 25, 1863. He is listed in the findagrave.com website.

William Mathias Maynor (Mainer, Manier, Mainey, Mayner, Maner, Maness)was known as 'Thias', served in Union Army, 2nd NC Mounted Infantry, Company D and E. Have copy of service record and pension files for wife Margaret Thorpe Mayner.

Adolphus McCrary was captured at Carter’s Depot on Dec. 30, 1862, exchanged on an unspecified date probably in March of 1863.He deserted the Confederate 62nd N.C. Infantry Regiment, Co. E, on 3-28-1863. He enlisted in the Union 2nd N.C. Mounted Infantry, Co. H, on 11-1-1863. He deserted the Union Army on 4-20-1864. There is no record of his return to duty, but he appears to have been a prisoner of war and restored. There is an unreadable document from the Record and Pension Office that may have included his restoration.

Joseph A. Hamilton was a Regimental carpenter during 1 Oct 1863 - 8 Aug 1865 in the 2nd NC MOUNTED Infantry.

Hiram was originally in the 29th NC Company B CSA along with his brother John Henry & his father Rev. John Wheeler. He was under the command of his brother-in-law William B Creaseman. He 'went over' in 1864
