Enlisted as a Sergeant on 24 July 1862 at the age of 30. Mustered in Company A, 115th Infantry Regiment New York on 25 July 1862. Captured on 15 September 1862 at Harper's Ferry, VA. Paroled on 16 September 1862. Reduced to ranks. Wounded on 14 May 1864 at Drewry's Bluff, VA. Mustered out on 17 June 1865 at Raleigh, NC. Buried at Wood National Cemetery.

Private John Denmark, Co. B, 115th New York Vols. died April 15, 1863 of lung fever as reported in the newspaper The New South, Port Royal, South Carolina, Vol. 1, No. 33, Saturday, April 18th, 1863. GR

Enlisted on February 24, 1865 at Schenectady, NY as a private in F company, 115 New York Infantry Regiment, transferred June 17, 1865 to K Company, 47th New York Infantry Regiment (Washington Grays) when all soldiers were transferred out of the 115th. Mustered out of the 47th on August 30, 1865.

Enlistment August 08, 1862 at Corinth, Saratoga County, New York to serve three years. Mustered in as private August 9, 1862; Captured in action, September 15, and paroled, September 16, 1862 at Harper's Ferry, VA. Transported to Camp Douglas in Chicago, Illinois where he was held until November 20, 1862. Killed in action, January 16, 1865 as a result of powder magazine explosion which occurred Sunday morning after Union victory.

He seems to have made it all the way through the war. I have not seen his name on an lists of wounded and was mustered out with the rest of the unit. All I have at this point is his enlistment date and place, unit assigned and company. I would like to find out more information him.
