Benjamin died in a hospital in Keokuk,IA, shortly after 15th Michigan Infantry participated in the battle of Shiloh. I know that many injured in that battle were put on river boats and shiped up river to Kiokuk, which had several Military Hospitals. I do not know how he was inured. It was not long after he entered the war.

Hiram D. Parker (born in Chemung County, NY on August 26, 1839; died in Montcalm County, MI on September 7, 1914) enlisted in the 15th Michigan at Lyons, MI on November 12, 1861. He was discharged in Little Rock, AR on August 13, 1865. He is the younger brother of George L. Parker who served in the 3rd Michigan from 1864-1866.
